Careers in Realtime Reporting

Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) is proud to announce Court Reporting (Realtime Reporting) as its newest program! This program will be offered exclusively on the DMACC Newton Campus and is the only Court Reporting program in the state of Iowa. The two-year Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree will prepare students for a variety of exciting jobs that require realtime reporting skills. The work of realtime Court Reporters in not limited to our judicial system. These trained professionals may use their skills to pursue a number of exciting and rewarding options. Among these options are captioning, realtime broadcast captioning, transcribing for conferences and conventions, legal and medical transcription or they may even go into business for themselves as freelance reporters. Average salaries tend to be high and the career outlook for realtime professions is good.

BLS reports 2012 Median Pay for Court Reporters was $48,160/year! Not too shabby!
