ILCC's Summer 2015 Course Offerings

You may see course schedules for the various campuses as well as online options here.  

Please keep in mind: 

• You will not have access to school technology devices during the summer; therefore, you may need to ensure you have access to an alternative device.
• The same requirements for ILCC enrollment exist for summer enrollments as are in place during the academic school year: ASSET/ACT scores on file, scores must be in proficiency level for enrollment in certain courses. (see below)
• Summer courses are not paid for by Spirit Lake Schools; therefore, you are responsible for the cost of the course and its required textbook. 
• Although the school does not fund summer courses, the registration process is to be done through the high school, not ILCC. 
• Completed summer courses through ILCC are not included on your high school transcript UNLESS official documentation from ILCC is provided to me to prove the successful completion of such course(s). At that time, the course will be added to your high school transcript.

Height & Electrical Safety - Industrial Tech Opportunity at ILCC!

The Connect @ Iowa Lakes program is designated to help area students with more hands-on workplace learning experiences.  They are hosting a day for students interested in a height/electrical careers to learn more about height or electrical safety in a fun hands-on experience.  This event will coincide with the SERTech Event at Iowa Lakes which is brining area technicians together to attain necessary certifications for their jobs.  After the learning event, students will be served a FREE LUNCH while listening to a renowned speaker in the safety industry, Richard Hawk.   Attendees will also receive a FREE SERTech Event T-shirt! Mini Medical School Program!

The University of Iowa Carver School of Medicine would like you to join them in an educational community program, Discoveries in Modern Medicine: Hypertension & Preeclampsia, in Spencer, Iowa at the Spencer Community Theatre on March 10th!

The program will provide students interested in pursuing fields in science and medicine the opportunity to connect STEM education with breakthroughs in medicine. They are encouraging students to attend early for an interaction pre-program session to experience hands-on learning and get a glimpse at medical school training.

Mini medical school is designed for adults, or anyone 15 years or older, who are curious about current issues in medicine and science. The program is offered FREE of charge and will include refreshments. Registration is required at www.medicine.uiowa.edu/minimedicalschool

Coding Course Opportunity!

Minnesota West Community & Technical College has received funding from the AT&T Foundation for high school students grades 9-12 to participate in a 2 credit Concepts of Coding class. Interested students must fill out the application and return toRoxanne Hayenga, 1450 Collegeway, Worthington MN 56187 or email roxanne.hayenga@mnwest.edu before March 1, 2015.

Students are required to come to the Worthington campus on Saturday, May 30, 2015 for an orientation session. The rest of the class can be accessed online. This course will encourage students to communicate, from a distance, with instructor, mentor, tutors and peers as part of the class team; will help students learn the fundamentals of programming logic; will have the students interacting with the JavaScript language in a friendly, game-like, coding environment; will help students observe immediate interactive results; and will encourage students to trouble shoot and correct inaccurate results.

Campers in thiscourse will learn how to: model objects fromscratch using Blender, harness the power ofonline apps for quick project creation, applythe rules of 3D print design, scan objectsusing various 3D scanners, sculpt with adigital drawing tablet, utilize Thingiverse,and take home their 3D printed projects.
